We recommend non-baggy pants and shorts with sneakers or any type of enclosed footwear. NO FLIP FLOPS!!!! If the weather is a bit chilly, we recommend a wind breaker or something heavier depending on your need. All of our bikes come with a handlebar bag for your personal belongings.

In Santiago all of our guided tours start and finish at our location at the Cerro San Cristobal. On Easter Island all tours start and finish at the Hiti Uira bike shop located near the soccer field.

Every rental includes; E-bike, helmet, handlebar bag and repair kit.

Are electric bikes safe?

“E-Bikes” as commonly known are very much like traditional bicycles. They just happen to have a little bit (or a lot, depending on the level you select) of boost that helps riders conquer their routes. If you can ride a normal bike you can ride an e-bike!

Do I need a license to drive an electric bike?

No. Under the law electric bikes are treated like normal bikes.

Can I bring my own bike on the guided tour?

No, sorry.

What is included in city guided tour?

We include the following: knowledgeable tour guide, e-bike, lights, helmet, handlebar bag and water. A support person "Techie" will also be provided. This person will be a back-up to the guide and will also carry spare everything (tires, water, chains, batteries etc.)

How many people are on the guided tour?

A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 depending on the tour selected.

Do I need to make a reservation for the guided tour?

Yes. At least 24 hours in advance. Subject to availability. On Easter Island walk-ins are welcome to swing by and check on our availability and scheduling.

At what time should I arrive for my guided tour?

Ideally we recommend that you arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled reservation.

I haven’t ridden a bike in years, and I’m worried I’ll slow the rest of the group down!

In some cases that may be true, but with e-bikes you don’t have to worry. With on-demand pedal assist you can keep up with anyone.

What is the advantage of taking a guided tour over a self-guided tour?

The advantages are countless!! There's nothing like riding with a knowledgeable and friendly guide who will show you the best that Santiago has to offer!

Can I cycle in the parks?

Yes, almost of all of them have bike paths and almost all of our tours will incorporate many of the beautiful parks of Santiago.

What happens if it rains?

In Santiago it doesn’t rain very often. But before your reservation starts you should check the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothing. We do not provide rain coats. In case of heavy rain, we will send you an alert and the option to reschedule.

Are there any fees to enter the parks?

We recommend that you do bring small change with you. There are some public facilities in a few of the parks that require a small fee to use (we are aware, for example, that one must pay to use the toilets on Cerro Santa Lucia). Better to be safe than sorry (or busting to go to the toilet!)!

How long does the battery last on an electric bike?

Depending on pedal assist usage, 4-5 hours (personally tested!!).

Does the battery on an electric bike recharge while I pedal?

No, not at the moment. Each bike is charged over night.

What happens if the battery dies?

The battery has enough juice in it for you to enjoy tours. If it does run out of power, no worries! They turn into normal bikes when the motor is off. For guided tours and large groups, a Techie with spare everything will accompany you.

Can I attach a trailer, baby seat or tag-a-long to an electric bike?

No, not at the moment.

Do you have electric tandem bicycles?

No, not at the moment.

What is the maximum speed of e-bikes?

32 km/h per manufacturer specs.

Do the bikes offer different levels of “pedal assist”?

Yes. The bike can assist as little or as much boost as you want just by pressing a button. The levels of boost are 30%, 60% and 90%.

Is there an orientation offered?

Yes. For every rental we offer an orientation on the aspects of the bike. No one gets on a bike without the orientation

Do I have to go on the path you recommend?

It depends. In Santiago all of our tours have specific routes and times. On Easter Island however our tours are self-guided and we only recommend routes that are best suited for our bikes and riders. However, you can always deviate if you spot something interesting.

What do I do if something happens to my bike, i.e. I get a flat tire?

For every rental we include in the handlebar bags emergency contact information. For guided tours, we also provide you with a Techie who will carry extra tires, batteries, water, a first aid kit etc. Should they not be able to fix your bike, they will give you theirs (guaranteed fun!!)

What happens if I have an accident?

It is mandatory that all riders carry their own traveler’s or local insurance. Easybici is not responsible for any type of accident as described in the rental agreement and rental waiver. If an accident does occur, our staff is fully trained to follow strict protocols in order to ensure passenger safety and well-being.
